Default nitrous timing

I am ready to install my NX wet kit on my car. I have 1 step colder plugs TR-6 gapped at .030 I didn't do 2 steps since the N20 will only be used on occasion. The manufacturer says it's okay to run a 75 shot with no timing retard? Is that right. Will I be okay if I do just a 75 shot with no retard. I know I can get a switch to toggle between different tunes, but I really don't wanna spend $500 between the tune and chip switch! Please help only if you have had nitrous. No bogus replies rookies!!! Thanks

ohh I forgot to say I have a non-pi motor and know the tr-6's are one step colder for pi's, but are they the same heat range for non-pi's or are they 2 steps colder for the non-pi's?

You can run a 75 shot on a stock tune but your best bet would be to get a timing adjuster and set it back 2-4 degrees. You can get a used one for around $100 if you look around.

I don't want to mess with an adjuster! I would rather get a programmer chip with two tunes. Anyone know about the non-pi plugs?

Can you make adjustmentslike that to yourpre-programmed tunes, or do you have to designate a solo tune just for that? I really want something like a Bank chip?? I think thats what they are. They plug into your lighter socket and you can switch between the diff. tunes. I'm not going to use the nitrous but on occasion and don't want to run around retarded and rich most of the time!.lol Where can I get one of those and how much?

For a 75 shot the max you will need to retard your timing is 2 degrees. With that little of retard you are only losing like 2 whp so its not that big of a deal if its retarded all of the time. If you are only going to use the nitrous once in awhile their is no reason to spend 300 for a switch chip and another 150 to tune it. But if you really want one look at americanmuscle.com.They have them and some accesories for it.

Id go to your local tuner and see what he has. I know im getting the SCT chip taht has the switch for my kit from my local tuner in a couple weeks.

Im running 100 shot with no timing retards and autolite coppers right now. No problems but I do plan on switching to NGK's and a timing retard for my 2 stage when i go 200 shot.

So you have no detonation problems with no retard on a 100shot? Do you use 93 Octane? What about my plugs Iknow TR-6 at .030 is good for PI, but for non-pi? Thanks for helping
