I know someone that did it and that's basically what hold them back springs in place! The fronts have kind of a wall barrier to keep them strapped in, nothing like the back. the backs will definately make noise when you hit the turns, not necessarily over the bumps since there is always pressure, but imo it's a cheap route to buying new springs. 1/2"..not if they are old isolators more like 1/4". They get flattened out over time
