Default Best Oil ???

I actually had a mechanic get pissed off at me saying synthetic oil makes no difference. I tried explaining the very same facts in that article a couple months ago and he said it's bulls**t & he wants to see some proof.

Lots of older mech's are stuck in their ways (some still believe carbs are better than EFI).

To change over, just change the oil with a new filter and synthetic.

And contrary to myth, you can mix dino and synthetic together, and your motor can go back to dino if you ever wanted to.

Fram oil filters suck.

I personally LOVE Purolator filters. Excelent design, high pressure burst rating, great drain back valve design, no s**tty paper glued to cardboard.

Here's an interesting article for yahttp://www.shoclub.com/lubrication-oil/lubrication-oilpart5.htm

The first number is the rating when it's cold, the second when it's warmed.

Lower=freeer flowing
Higher= harder-to-penetrate barrier

I stick with manufacturer specs.

You want a low first number so the oil can quickly get where the most strees is (during start up, always the most stressful) and lube it up to prevent more wear/tear.

Thanks Jeep.I picked up some oil and stuff tonight. I got Mobile 1 synthetic 5w-30. I also got a k&n oil filter because that article you posted said a lot of good things about them.

Hopefully, ill be able to change it tomorrow.
