Default gas milage with 4.10s

Finally got my 4.10s installed. I love them, they are deffinately the ratio I wanted. Went through a 500mi break in period, taking it easy. Can't wait to get to the track with them. But I was wondering, I'm getting about 21mpg around town. Haha is that normal??

You what, no, the speedo is still off. Don't have a tuner yet, and no local shop is willing to return the speedo for me.

It has to be done with a special tool known as a Speedcal, from dallas mustangs. Or you have to get software like Diablo or SCT tuners.

Your speedo being off is why you're getting 21 mpg. Correct it for the mileage and you'll be much lower.

But, improving mileage around town and at moderate speedswith 4.10's is possible since the engine doesn't have to work as hard.

Yeah I know what's needed to do it. Thanks though. Just sitting on the money waiting for it to build up. thanks again though.

Well, 4.1/3.27 = 1.254 -- so, the speedometer and odometer are reading 25% higher that the car is actually traveling, this makes the reported 21 MPG around town drop toa corrected 16.8 MPG...which makes 12 MPG at highway speeds, as suggested by another poster, seem close.
