theres a big difference between a mach and a gt, a gt is 2v sohc, the mach is a 4v dohc similar to a cobra, the mach would be a way better choice than a gt, the 4v has more power and will respond alot better to mods.

As long as there are plenty of parts out for the mach 1 im good. For my cobalt i can add plent of power but cant do anything to make the trans handle it so thats why im thinking of switching. Right now my balt is probably about even with a stock mach 1. They're mid-low 13's right.

So basically its a cobra without the SC?

What kind of power do you plan on making? What plans do you have for the car?

Basically, yes. However, the block and other engine components are cast in the mach, whereas they are forged in the cobra.

A mach's block will hold about 450rwhp, same as the GT. It'll just be much easier to get there with the mach.

Itsvery similar to the 01 and eariler cobras motor wise. Machs have aslightly higher compression ratio.

The 03/04 cobras have a fully forged shortlbock, good for upwards of 800 hp.

The manual machs only havethe 8 boltforged crank, the autos have the regular 6 bolt iron. They bothhave the same crappy rods the gts have and hypereutectic pistons.

If you plan on getting a supercharger anytime shortly, skip the Mach 1. Both the Mach 1 & GT can only handle 450rwhp or LESS, so there is no advantage to buying a Mach 1 over a GT when getting a blower.

However if being practical & NA is what you need, the Mach 1 will give you much better performance NA.
