hpipe or xpipe

X will give you more peak power but, if you look at dyno results you will end up sacrificing a little low end torque and the peak HP numbers arent a blow out or anything. When they say the X-pipe makes more power, it does but, not by much. This whole X-pipe H-pipe debate reminds me of the "Screw Vs. Centrifugal" debate. Ive seen many Drag racers in the 10 and 11 second zone with H-pipes. I think its preference. I like the sound of an H-pipe and they have been used for decades by drag racers. I had an X-pipe on my old 96Gt and I hated it. I lost some low end torque, gained a slight bit of HP up top, and I also got that great rasp that comes with it too. Ive said it once and Ill say it again, X-pipes are more geared for high power applications.

Yeah you did say that but, I wasnt refering to your post in anyway whatsoever so, I really dont care what you said lol. I was answering DGT's qustion. I just figured I could give him some first hand information from someome who switched from a H to X pipe. I apoligize if I have a different preference in mid-pipes.

I also have switched from an X-pipe to an H-pipe and back again, and honestly to me it sounds like the X-pipe is louder and I have Flows on my car and with the X-pipe I could really notice the Flowmaster tone a lot more than with the H-pipe. I had an exhaust leak because of a bad gasket when I put the H-pipe on so I'm thinking about putting it on again with proper sealing and doing another sound check. I can tell you first hand though you can feel the difference in torque with an H-pipe than with an X-pipe because it was a lot easier to get squirrely with the rear end with the H-pipe, but when you shift up high and your next gear kicks in between 3,000-3,500 RPM with the X-pipe it really yanks you back in your seat. It's a small difference, but noticeable.
