Default changing my fuel filter

So the guy I bought my stang from never replaced the fuel filter and the car has 38k miles. Needless to say I'd like to take care of this. I just wanted to make sure that there are no tricks to the job.

Is the special filter tool necessary?

Also, I am assuming it's okay to remove the fuel pump fuse and attempt to start the car to depressurize the fuel line. This isn't bad is it?

You need a special tool. Any autoparts store will have it.
It`s a real easy job. It will take like 5 minutes.

yes you will need the fuel connector tool. i depressurized the lines by unplugging the inertia switch and then i let it idle for a few seconds

you can take the fuse out or just pop the hood and on the passenger side fuel rail is a shrader valve, release the pressure there...that and you should wear clothes you dont mind getting dirty in as there's usually a little gas spilage anyways

Ok, so I bought the stupid tool to disconnect the fuel lines from the filter and I can't get the mother ****er to come off. Am I retarded or what? WTF..

Also, what kind of tool/blade did you guys use to cut off your stock mufflers?

Thanks for the info..

Did you buy something like this? http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/kd3321.htmlJust wrap it around the filter inlet/outlet line, push in and pull the lines apart.

K, I got the filter changed out but ran out of sunlight and opted to wait till tomorrow for the catback. I need to get a new blade to do the cutting anyway and didn't have the correct deep socket. It just wasn't meant to happen tonight I guess lol.

Thanks for the help, though!
