I have an 04 too. I've noticed that you can't get any info on them. Chilton or Haynes don't have a book on them. At least I couldn't find any at the autopart shops around me, and yes that includes Pepboys and Autozone.
Anyway I am going for the gusto, I don't want any of these little MODS done e.g. intake spacers will add 9hp, cold air kits another 9hp, don't believe the hype, they just want you to spend money. Going to save up all my pennies for a supercharger, then the exhaust (if that doesn't go first...lol), then overhaul my 4W70R tranny and add a shift kit to it.

I wondered if the then rumours of the 2005 S197 had the Chilton etc companies decide not
to waste money on a 2004 book because it was basically the same as the 2003.
I agree with you on the bolt on mods.
If you want to go fast, save your money and get a supercharger.
I would do the tranny first if I were you.
Put a good cooler on it and select a GOOD shift kit.
Lot's of information on this and other boards about which ones to avoid.
I have a link somewhere that has all kinds of good stuff about the 4W70R right from one
of the Ford engineers that designed it (I think??).
Maybe someone else can chime in?
