That is a **** load of money for an 03, I [aid that much for mine 2 years ago and it had less miles than that, and it was at a dealer. The msrp on it then was 18k. If they are offering you 13k then take it, thats alll your gonna get from it.

Just let the salesman know right off the bat that you have xplan to buy the car with. Xplan is a deal Ford has with employers that thier employees get 1% behind invoice + no dealer fees. The dealer cannot negotiate on price or they will lose thier Ford branding. So, if they know they're making bottom dollar on the deal anyway, they will give you the lowest you could probably expect for your trade on an appraisel. If you don't other dealers will give you more on your trade but build the money back into the front end of the deal. They may ask you where you work, but most large companies have the xplan, if they give you any lip say you work for Price Water house coopers, or your parents do or something... I know they give it.

EDIT: The reason I say to do this is so you can plan out for the worst case scenario... this way if you can afford what you're trying to do with the worst offer, anything more then you get for that is just bonus. Or you can see exactly how much more you need to squeeze out of it.

bring your car into the dealer and say "the only way i'm buying this car TODAY is if you give me 15k for my trade". If they tell you "no" then walk away and try again.
