Default 70mm BBK TB

I just got a 70mm Throttle Body. Should i have gotten the 75mm TB? Am i really going to notice a diff. if did get the 75mm? I also got a trick flow plenum. Is that a good choice also? Please let me know.

The TB was $179.99. Plenum were $109.95.

Prepare for 10 posts on, 70mm for N/Aand 75mm for FI, or if you are planning on getting FI in the future (Forced Induction, Supercharger/Turbo).

Followed by a few, You will not notice a difference-what a waste of money, or by others, I noticed a slight difference. But you shouldn't notice a difference between 70mm and 75mm, for a N/A car.For a FI car, you should notice a difference, and only go with 75mm.

I got the 75mm myself, but havn't put it on yet (accurfab tb and plenum), so I can't talk from experience, just the ton of postings I read before getting it myself. Will know in a few weeks if I can notice a difference, but it looks DAMN GOOD![sm=smiley20.gif]

from what i have read, most tests show that you gain a few more hp with the 75mm throttle body over the 70mm.....even if you arent supercharged. the 75mm is usually the same exact price as the 70mm, so i dont see why not get the bigger and better one. it certainly wouldnt hurt. also think about it this way...the bigger the throttle body the more air you can pull in (assuming you have a good cai also), the more air you pull in, the more power you make.

It depends to a great deal on the plenum you hook it up to--here's a link to Accufab's flow numbers for a variety of TB diameters and plenums (about 1/2 way down). Not exactly an unbiased soure, but it's the best comparison I've found. Some plenums flow better with a 75, some with a 70. Curiously, with Accufab's plenum it doesn't matter...

the only negative i have for the bbk is that mine broke!! granted it was on the car for around 3-4 years, but??? the linkage (on the side) broke clean off!! bbk assured me they had never heard of such a thing but i went with an accufab (75mm) to replace it. i love it!! if my plenum (dragon) weren't ported, i would buy an accufab. i still might. they are just plain beautiful!!! they work too.
anyway, good luck. anything beats the shiznit out of stock!!!

That's the pressure differential, across the TB/Plenum combo. in inches of water--a common unit of measurement for relatively low pressure (and vacuum) levels. The higher the "inches" the more suction there is on the outlet side, the higher flow numbers represent this higher suction. The unit 1" of water equals 0.074" of mercury (the US standard for intake manifold vacuum). So if you are familiar with watching a vacuum gauge as you drive, 5" H2O = 0.4" Hg (or WOT), 20" H20 = 1.5" Hg ("on it", but not WOT), and 28" H2O = 2.1" Hg (sort of "on it")...Note that my comments ("WOT". "on it", etc.) are gross approximations, don't go to toasting my chops over them.
