Default VSS and SpeedCal

I am having a heck of a time trying to get my speedo correct. I recently bought a SpeedCal from DM to help fix it, but i still have problems. I have a couple of question that would help me to fix it.

Background:
I have 3.73 gears, a 21 tooth speedo gear (i know i don't need both, but i should be able to make it work), and the car is a 98 GT, stock tires.

Problem:
After lots of codes on the SpeedCal, the best that I can get is the Speedo to be correct in the 40-55 range, read to fast from 0-40 and too slow from 55-150.

Questions:
1. Can the VSS be bad (does that sound like a possibility)?
2. Would a physical move in the speedo needles position affect it (i.e. when the guage faces were changed to white ones)?
3. Any other possibilities?

Sorry for the long post, but I appreciate any help that can be given?

You have a mech speedo so the speed cal will do you no good. Install the speedo gear and fix your needle.

what do you mean the speedcal will do no good? It changes the output of the VSS. which connects to the speedometer

could it be that your new white face gauges are not flush and the speedo needle isn't allowed to sweep properly.. I know with mine my gas gauge the needle rubs a little when i fill her up.. also the best way to do it is pace with another car and drive 10 miles and see how many miles you have went and take all your info and ask DM... then the should give you a code that is correct for everything..

Thanks for the info. I don't believe that the needle is rubbing on the gauges, buti will check it. I have been trying to contact DM for a couple of weeks now with no reply. If the needle has been moved will that affect it speed (i.e. if it wasn't put back on the needle pin in the exact position that it came from)? Cause I did notice that whenI come to a stop the need doesn't go all the way to the stop pin.
