Default T-45 removal question???

I have a 97 GT with the T-45 tranny. I want to change my clutch while I have my driveshaft off and exhaust off! Will the bellhousing clear the firewll without screwing around with the motor? Will jacking up the dampener with a board help at all? Please let me know if you have had any experience.

Also I would like to get the FRRP clutch set. They have two regular king and HD king. Will the regular king clutch have the same pedal feel as stock? I don't want nothing stiff. Any other soft pedal feels that you know of I'm open to ideas as long as the kit isn't going to run me a small fortune! $250 or less.

THANKS FOR THE HELP PEOPLES!!!

You have to remove the tranny; you can't just take the bell housing off. Also have to remove the starter before you take the tranny off.

When you take the cross member out the weight of the tranny will pull the back of the engine down some. Then put the board under the dampener and jack the front of the engine up as much as it'll let you. It will clear the fire wall no problem then. I can pull these trannys in 45 min. but I've probably pulled a dozen of them due to them bending shift forks or stripping gears.

Are you refering to trying to get the top bolts out? If so the bellhousing doesnt clear the firewall but it will lean enough to make it alot easier to get the top bolts. The easiest way ive found is to drop the x-member first so it will lean down so you can get the bolts. Then put a rolling jack under the rear of the tranny to keep it from falling when you get all the bolts out.

Don't forget to remove the fluid first. Saves you from cleaning up a big mess when you tilt the tranny. Differently tilt the motor back to get atthe top 2 bell housing bolts I like to use ratchet straps and go from the front of the engine to the top of the strut tower bolts and ratchet it so it tilts the engine. Do them bolts first.

Yeah I need to change the fluid anyways. Funny thing is that I just put the new intake with aluminum crossover and looked at the bolts and was saying to myself ...do I wanna change the clutch because those bolts look so easy to get to??..dammit I wish I made it easier on myself, but anyways thatnks for the info. I just didn't want to screw with unbolting the engine. The ratchet strap sounds like a good idea!! Thanks
