this is a dumb questio but what does N/A mean. thanks. also with stage II cams and up have piston to valve clearance issues with stock pistons? you'd have to get some notched pistons.

RE: Stage 2 blower cams on a NA 4.6...
Well, people are gonna tell you to go with stage 1s cause we dont have the bottom end to spin the stage 2s high enough in their peak powerband, but after a few months of debating, I did stage 2s cause they sound a lot better, and Im eventually doing heads and a forged bottom and (not for a few years). If you go with stage 2s, you will need a tune and valve springs, and a 3.55 gear or higher. Right now, I am driving without a tune and have the stock 3.27 gears and it is fine. Im doing a tune and my 4.10s in a couple weeks, so im sure it will help, but its your call on cam selection. Your not really gonna hear the stage 1s (if thats a factor to you) but the gains will be about the same as a stage2 with a stock bottom end...hope I didnt confuse you

i was gonna get some patriot performance stage II heads with theirbillet cams (basically the same as a comp Stage II cam)but they said that i'd have a problem with PTV clearance. do you think i would. i have a 96 gt an need to do a head swap so i'm gonna get the ported heads at the same time. if i will have PTV then i need to purchase a used stock PI cam until i get a new forged engine with notched pistons. if i wont have a problem then i can save some money and have my sound (cams)with my heads. can someone please help? thanks.

For a few more dollars you can get a custom grind that will maximize performance for YOUR setup and avoid unwanted issues, like ptv. I went with Houston Performance 292 blower cams and had them customized to brimg down the rpm range a bit. $595 shipped, and Steve is one of the nicest guys you will ever deal with. Good luck broham.

how much power do you want to make? if it's a lot, then concentrate on building up the bottom end first. if you just want a kick in the pants put the blower on now. your cams will cost you about 600+ is a shop going to install them? that's another 600-1000. by now your half way to the blower.
the other folks are right, stage 2 = valve springs and tune = more $
the fella who asked about NA = naturaly asperated (not forced induction)

My heads are at a performance shop right now. For 225 they will give me a performance upgrade (includes: all the seals, valve guides, and a 3 angle valve job) and for 75 an hour they will port my exhaust ports. So, I don't know what to go with NA Stage 1 or 2s or just doing what the tread started said and getting the Blower Stage 2s. I have a tuner so they will retune it and I have to order the valve springs if I am going with Stage 2s.
