Default Gear install costs????

I just got a price from xxtuning in CT on a gear install. Parts and labor will be 885.00. This includes a bearing kit from Ford for pinion bearing etc.... which runs around 100.00. All Ford parts. On top of that, I need to buy a tuner. For 250.00, I get an SCT chip for just adjusting the speedometer and for 450.00 I get the whole tuner to keep for what its worth. Seems like a lot to me and not sure its worth it.
I'll be over 1100.00 by time I am done. What did everyone else pay? I don't mind paying extra for quality work but I only have so much to spend.

I was quoted 800 for everything but I dont get a tuner, they tune it for me. I really thought 800 was high, but 1100, wow.

I figure 1100 complete. That includes everything I will need including the SCT tuner. The bearing kit is another 100.00 but I don't see the sense in swapping out the gears and not doing all the bearings also.

The parts and labor are not that bad. What I don't like is having to spring 250.00 just to calibrate the speedometer.

the sct will allow you to clear codes and adjust speedo etc....xx is great I had my car tuned their, they do quality work and thats not a bad price when you factor your going to pay about 400 plus for parts etc goodluck and get SCT find it used an unlocked to save a few bucks..Dan

Yes. The cheap way out is spending 250.00 just to calibrate the speedometer, OR , I can spend 450.00 for the entire tuner. What I am saying is it I don't want to pay 250.00 just for a chip with a single purpose that I will probably not use again, and 450.00 for the tuner is more than I want to spend.
