see this is a hard topic to explain but here is the best i can do
the fox is a much better fast car. with strictly suspension mods alone u can hit 12's with the stock motor. but the quality of the car is severly a downgrade. my fox compared to my friends 96 cobra is a joke. performance wise stock for stock the pi 4.6 will beat the 5.0 anytime, with his mods and the slicks hes lookin at a 13.4 if he is a good driver. but i would have to say if u wanna tinker with it than a 5.0 is much better being the aftermarket is 100000 times better than the 4.6 ad the technology is so friggin simple. the sound goes to the 4.6 though. good luck i say go for it. with the money ur getting for ur 99gt u will be able to make that fox a mid to low 12 sec car.

WoW! I havn't checked back on the topic until now.

So it seems we have some very mixed replies, but I have taken all of the into consideration.

Yeah, I'm stickin with a newer car. I need to sell my 99 GT before anything, so thats a priority. But that still leaves the question of what to get next. I still have my $7500 budget, so I need to think now. Thanks for all the replies guys! Yeah the fox is too much gas money anyway.


But it would be SWEET to have a 11 sec track fox. I'll end up building one for sure sometime.

i dont get it, you have a 99 stang which isnt that old, what newer car only cost 7500 besides a civic or something that will b much slower then what you have now

^^^ And thats why I kinda gave up getting a newer car, but since you guys are saying the 93 will be a bad move, then I'm FORCED to buy a civic or sumthing. Whatever I'm getting will be slower than my GT, for sure. Maybe a v6 stang? or a focus? IDK, I really don't want a honda/toyota, but I know it would be a good move on my part, because of gas and costs, and reliability. I'm sooo split on this, american car for fun....or japanese import for gas. I hate making these types of decisions! [:@]

And I'm not keeping the GT. Too many miles, and I just want a better car, not just for performance, but all around.

If it was opposite, then the 5.0 would most definitely be for you.. Just depends on how good you are with a wrench. Not saying the 5.0 is problem-prone(I have never had any serious problems with mine, but then again it is getting to around that age when these cars begin to fall apart if not taken care of correctly from the beginning just like any other car), but the faster you go the more attention it needs no matter what. It is a little hard to get a great all-around American fun car with your $7500 budget(if I read that correctly) for fast AND reliable. If you can do all the work yourself, the sky is the limit and I would recommend the 5.0 or look really hard for a nice F-body. A T-bird supercoupe would be great for you!!, but then again I'm not sure how dead-set you are on a newer car.
