RE: 00 auto gt vs new auto gto
is it a 5.7 GTO or a 6.0? i beat 04's (5.7) all the time with just x pipe, catback, intake and 4.10's with my 02' auto.....they are a faster car than ours, but it doesnt seem like anyone can drive them. The fact that he is an auto which takes much of the error factor out, you could be in for some trouble

Either one has the potential to bury you, but the 5.7 would have made it closer.
Unless he just sits and spins out on the line, your done. Even if he does, its going to be him reeling you in the entire time.
400 horsepower>260 horsepower.

Don't forget to mod out the trans in that thing too. Very few people on MF with autos ever consider taking care of the trans bottleneck. Shiftkit, re-proged points, stall converter w/ cooler and I bet you'll notice just as much gain as if you were to bolt a bunch of engine toppers on. Autos can launch like a Peter North pearl catapult if they are done right, a torque converter will multiply torque by large amounts within the first few feet of the drop. You may not have the fun factor of a 5-stick, but for straight line racing with the auto your on the right "track" (couldnt resist pun). But anyway back to the goat, as posted above you'll be beating the driver more then the car. Although GTOs are turds compared to Maros and T/As they still have a serious HP and torque level that requires a puny 281 to be blown or juiced to match or beat head to head.
