RE: a harsh reality has set in....
In the end, autos are what the big boys use in drag racing. If u ever do bracket racing, you will want an auto. Theres a guy in my beretta forum thats always winning bracket racing tournies, one of the slowest cars there (16 seconds going again 13's or lower) but its the most consistent car there and is always dead on his dial in. In one tournie he pissed so many fast cars off they didnt let him participate in one of the tournies.

What really kills me is how you guys are so down on the 2v 4.6L...
It just needs FI! Even a 4v needs FI unless your gonna spend ALOT more money on the engine then you ever would on asupercharger (to make real power anyway).
If you have a engine with only 281 cubes, you should just plan to either run it in a very light car with lots of suspension or use some sort of FI.
I really need to dig out that old MM&FF article where the 4v guy was talking about making lots of horsepower n/a. He had some really great insights on the 4.6L and why we see the results we do.

i test drove a 2v and a 4 v. The difference stock aint much. It's been shown many times the 2v motors can be fast if built properly, just like the 4v. 4v cant handle ungodly amounts of horsepower either without forged internals.
