by the time you actually get the car, you wont care about putting a s/c on it..one thing you wont need to and two you will probably be broke hahaha
most people will tell you mach is faster which it probably is and it might be a little cheaper but

id get which ever one you can find that hasnt been abused as much as the next one

Why not supercharge the GT? What year is it? The cobra motors suffer from the same weaknesses as the GT; crappy rods and pistons. SO, when supercharging them you have the same issue of having to limit boost. I say forge your motor and supercharge it. BTW, the insurance is cheaper on a GT.
Ya and the fact that the gt has 2 valves and the cobra's and mach1 has 4 has no affect
Dont give out bad info

i test drove a terminator today and think in mind i have a 96gt let me say holey shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttttt!!!!!
enough said now that is a mustang but the price brings me back to reality. i also drove a 2001 cobra vert (14,500) it had 48,000 miles. also a 2003 mach 1 not that much faster couldent realy tell 42,000 miles and they wanted $22,000 and last the terminator with 38,000 miles and for $29,000.

ok well the terminator is to much its the best car i ever drove hands down.I think the 01 cobra is the best contender and if i sc it will be faster than the terminator i dont know how much the block will hold in hp. I know the terminator and the mach 1 have the same motor i here is this true there both forged i know 03-04 cobra is.Dont you think the 01 cobra is the best bang for the buck. lets have a poll

chris
no wonder, if it's no PI swapped then it's going to get it's *** handed to a bit of cars out there, if you have a PI swap you'll see the difference as many poeple do, but you could also swap a 4v engine into your GT, that's what i'm saving for

[sm=alcoholic.gif]This is what I'd do:
1. If the '96 is paid-off, trade-in for:
a. Terminator (If too much $$ then go to 1b).
b. Mach1 for the 4-valves and S/C itlater when have enough $$.

2. If the '96 is not paid-off:
a.As $$ becomes available: Mods for intake, forged internals, suspensionand S/C (If too much $$ then go to 2b).
b. Pay it off and go to1a or whatever deals you can find and re-evaluate (being upside down for a used car sucks).

He's correct here though. The rods and pistons suck in both instances.. and your at the exact same limit on all of them unless you forge the motor. If your not going to mod it, I would get the Mach or 01 cobra. The 96-98 cobra's arent any faster stock than your car. They do take to mods better but the mods are more expensive. The forged aluminum block in them is great though... If you plan on putting a supercharger on it, then keep your GT.. just really depends on what you want to sink into it after you buy it.

*EDIT: This is if he has a new edge.. doesnt say what type of stang he has.. if its a 96-98 GT then go for a cobra, new edge gt, mach, what ever.... anything will be faster than it.

well i thought about sc it the other day and if you are lucky to find on cheap it is a at least 2,500 (lucky) and that should bosst my car to just bearly the 300hp take a few or give some. The dealership offered me 4,500 for my 96gt with 91,000 miles it has bullit rims flows and bbk cai.If i get the 01 cobra with the trade in i will walk a way owing 10,000 with alot stronger motor. The gts block is only good for a little over 400hp maybe more with a good tune the 01 cobra i dunno so if anyone knows please post..i think think the 01 cobra is a good buy of all of them im goingback to the dealership tomorrow to work out a deal.Im still gonna go for one more ride in the terminator for the fun of it. chris

i have a gt now and im sick of getting whooped by every car on the road. I got treated yesterday by a 3000gt so now i just want something faster.I already have some upgrades but want a better car. I'm looking at96-98 or 2000-2001 cobra or a mach1.Which do u think is better and explain.I wanna sc it.So i dunno if either engine is similar to the terminator. I'm test driving a 2001 cobra over the weekend so i rather get the best car i know everything about the gt's but not these
I have a mach and its a decent pkg, but a stage 2/head-cam/full exhaust on a 99-04 gt will run with my car easily. I say spend 7-10K on forged internals and boost and you can have a 500+rwhp car.
