Sugar doesn't dissolve in gasoline, (see this article at snopes.com--the urban legend busters). So it is unlikely it got past the fuel filter.

Ahh, but it might have if there is a vacuum to pull it through Cliff, but I don't kow for sure.
Who did you **** off real bad for him/her to do that? It's pretty low for a vandaliser to do that, they usually would just key your car or grab an emblem (not that those two are any better). People only do that when they are pissed off. I could be wrong though. But I'd look into it. Get a locking gas cap, better yet an alarm.

the only person i could have pissed off is my neighbor, whose son spray painted on my wall his ex girlfriends phone number. i doubt it was random, i do have an alarm and that cheap stealth system, but im going to go get a locking gas cap had one on my old truck dunno why i havent gotton one yet. thanks for all the help guys. yeah my filter was almost completely blocked, im hoping that got most of it... ill be feeding it some fuel system cleaner for a little bit, just to make sure.

I would change your oil ASAP and keep an eye on your engine. I have been a machinist for the last six years and I cant tell you how many heads I have seen screwed up because of this. Yes it can get past the filter and what it does is when it gets in your cyl and gets hot it turns into thick carbon that can cause valves to burn and it can scar your cyl wall causing massive engine failure.
