Default 2nd Gear & Cold Weather?????

Is this a common problem on an 02 GT w/3650 trans?- Going into 2nd is nasty when its real cold out. after the car warms up-no problem.I thought I saw a comment in another post. Do I need to worry or not?
Thanks

on my 96 with a t56 in the morning the first couple of shifts into 2nd they grindwhen i put it into gear with the cluth pedal to the floor so i dunno i was hoping for some one to help me also. one person i know said i might be low on tranny fluid or the fluid might just be old and needed to be changed.

mine also does it, its a common 3650 problem... they all have it.

you could try changing out the fluid. what i usualy do is put clutch in take it outa first take clutch out let the synchros line up a bit and then put clutch back in and put it in second. it usualy doesnt happen when i do that.

Welcome to the 3650, they dont like to shift at all in the cold. I changed my tranny fluid to Royal Purple and it seemed to help a little bit.

ford has a TSB on it and will fix it if you take it to them and tell them it's giving you trouble. doesn't look like you have major mods, so you may be able to get away with it.

apparently it's a problem with the synchros, which they replace.

I have a problem with 2nd gear and cold weather...3.90 gears and my tires dont stick worth a damn when its cold out, causing me to hit the rev limiter Seriously though, my tranny used to do that every once in a while until I switched to synchromesh.

THANK YOU FOR THIS POST!! i just got my 03gt about a week ago, and all night tonight i have been searching and adding posts trying to figure this out. mine is rough into 2nd as well, and ive been scared as hell the last couple of days i bought a bum car with $%# tranny. tell me this----try shifting through the gears with the car parked and see if it is smoother. mine is very smooth when it is in park, but once i get going it gets tougher in the cooler weather. mostly just 2nd gear.
