I actually did that without reading the instructions. It's just the way I am, I tried to plug the extensions in and said "hey, this little nub is stoping me" so I cut that b***h off and pluged it in. Then I read the instructions and found that I was supposed to do that anyway.lol

why is cutting the stock wires and extending them so bad?? I bought longtubes and my buddy cut his and soldered in some new wire and shrinkwrapped, and heat wrapped it and it worked fine, this is what I was planning on doing, good thing I read this! lol

You can do that but you have to use the exact type and size wire that is in the factory harness. It's not worth the risk because if it goes wrong a 3 cylinder festiva will kill you off the line.

I got the MAC longtubes also, but I cut the o2 wires and soldered inbetween wires to make them longer, plugged em in...car worked great! for 2 days lol. Had to buy 2 new O2 sensors, luckily I found Bosch sensors that came with 16" length wires and they reached perfect, no problems since. It seems that when you cut and splice with longer wires, you alter the reading. I guess the sensors are calibrated to work with the ohmand resistance of the existing harness.

Exactly. If you put a different kind or size wire it'll f**k up the sensors and the car will have no power off the line. I had a set of drag radials and was reving it to 5500 and dumping the clutch. It would just bog when it took off and I had some 2.5 60' times.
