same 2 reasons people have been swapping motors since the beginning of building cars.
perfect sleeper effect, and
insurance

A supercharged aluminum block, non forged internals GT motor won't make nearly the numbers the purpose built SVT motor will make.

The GT motor isnt aluminum... its cast iron.

Obvisously... here is a number to Ford Motor Racing. Call them and they will tell you the same thing im telling you. 586-468-1356. I called a while back asking what the weight difference between the LS1 and the 16V cast iron block of the GT was and it was like 80lbs.

For 10k you could spend 6K on a turbo kit, 3K on a shortblock, and still have enough cash left over for the tune and a set of camshafts. What we talking here, 600+ RWHP (at least?)

Yeah, but a 03 cobra assembly is 10K. You could run a TT or single turbo setup on a 4.6 with forged internals (hell even a entirely new block).

Putting a 04 cobra motor in a gt is a fun idea but it is no practical when it would be cheaper to just forge and do FI on a GT and till have the extra money for cams, gears, or whatever you wanted. If you have a huge budget I say do the swap
