why dont u just get an 03 or 04 then u dont ahve to worry about anything
same 2 reasons people have been swapping motors since the beginning of building cars.

perfect sleeper effect, and

insurance
EXACLY 2000si i did the engine swap on mine for that effect and i can tell you first hand its a good feeling pulling at the end of the race and the other guy saying he thought it was something else wondering whats under the hood of you car. the amount of money i spent is...worht it its a rush everytime i drive it, and worht the change of pants when i squeeze on the throttle, but moeny well spent is something to consider, if i had a v8 to start with i would have upgraded it and spent less money and might have gone faster?. sleeper effect, nothing beats it.

A supercharged aluminum block, non forged internals GT motor won't make nearly the numbers the purpose built SVT motor will make.

The GT motor isnt aluminum... its cast iron.

I've been told both ways, but I figured when I read "Cast aluminum" in the specs on ford.com that they used cast aluminum.

Nope... Cast Iron and now the '03/'04 Cobras are running the same thing.

Obvisously... here is a number to Ford Motor Racing. Call them and they will tell you the same thing im telling you. 586-468-1356. I called a while back asking what the weight difference between the LS1 and the 16V cast iron block of the GT was and it was like 80lbs.

Yeah, but a 03 cobra assembly is 10K. You could run a TT or single turbo setup on a 4.6 with forged internals (hell even a entirely new block).

For 10k you could spend 6K on a turbo kit, 3K on a shortblock, and still have enough cash left over for the tune and a set of camshafts. What we talking here, 600+ RWHP (at least?)

You may want a stonger tranny with the turbo set up but you have a point.

Putting a 04 cobra motor in a gt is a fun idea but it is no practical when it would be cheaper to just forge and do FI on a GT and till have the extra money for cams, gears, or whatever you wanted. If you have a huge budget I say do the swap
