in case that doesnt help here isanother link

so you know... 3rd paragraph under the blue bold title that reads "Wide Ratio Gear-Set"
AOD-E transmissions built through 1995 share the same standard gear ratios as the AOD, with the exception of the 1994-95 Thunderbird, 1994-95 F and E series trucks and the 1993-95 Lincoln Mark VIII which already have the wide-ratio 4R70W gear-set (thus the parts source for Ford Motorsport’s wide-ratio kit). Starting with the 1996 model year, standard ratio AOD-E transmissions are no longer manufactured and only 4R70W wide ratio transmissions are produced.

RE: Tranny-Aode/4R70W to rest
No problem. Im glad i could help. I think the mistake they are making is the older tranny is referred to an AOD-E the 4R70W is actually referred to a AOD-EW. That or they think they know their **** when they dont. But im glad i could help clear this up. Undoubtedly, there will still be some out there who are 110 percent sure about what they think.

I confess... I was an ***, and said the junk about the AODE tranny... I read on one website they couldn't be manually downshifted, unlike the 4r70w... thus giving me the idea that the AODE is junk... but then after further research from the sites listed above, well I realized that they're basically the same thing...
I'm an ***.

Harelax we all make mistakes... i knew a kid who put oil in where the brake fluid goes and didnt know it was wrong until the master cylinder gave out... it doesnt get much worse than that

RE: Tranny-Aode/4R70W to rest
i wasnt reffering to that, i was talking about the people telling me that auto mustangs came with the AODE up until 2004, and when i said "umm i dont think so, im 99.99% sure they came with the 4R70W" and i was bitched out

RE: Tranny-Aode/4R70W to rest
this is good news though for the people that have the pre 4R70W... because in that article it says you can just use a kit to basically get the 4R70W. Makes getting a 5.0 that much more enticing for a project car
