T-56 OR T-45????????????????????
Ok my cobra has been parked for a couple months because i completely blew out the synchros. It will not go into gear without serious force. The same with comming out. I know its the tranny because it was grinding almost every gear for a long time now.
With that said
Im contiplating either getting a rebuilt T-45 for $1000. Or just save up the money and get a T-56 built by www.ddperformance.com the complete kit with shortened driveshaft , crossmember, and new yoke is $2800. What do you guys think. I am planning to keep this car for a long time.

RE: T-56 OR T-45????????????????????
I was in this same boat about 6 months back. I really wanted to go the 6 spd route, but instead I bought a used T-45 with a one year warrenty. I just checked www.car-part.comThe 6spd sounds like a plan, but you can get a used T45 for cheap man. I actually have a spare one sitting in my garage right now.

Know that the 56 you are looking at is the "wide" ratio, not the viper rated 56 that came in the 03/04 cobras.

basically you will get an advantage over about 120 MPH, other than that it will be the same. This transmission (the one your looking at) will not allow you to run a steeper rear gear than what your t45 was, as it has the same final gear ratio (or at least really close).
The viper spec, which is ALOT more expensive, is the one with the really long 6th gear that allows you to run a steeper rear gear, so if your getting it for that you have to get the viper spec.
