Hello just had a quick question. I bought a used 1998 GT from a dealer and with the car i received and additional H-pipe with 4 cats. My car now has an H with 6 cats. I was wondering which is stock and which is aftermarket, and if it would be worth it to install the aftermarket one if thats not what is on there now. Thanks!

I believe those year models did come with six and the 99+ come with four. I may be wrong though.

I wouldn't doubt it, a 2002+ WRX comes with I believe 4 cats stock as well. First thing a few people in Indiana did was get full custom exhaust and threw out three of the cats. Some threw em all out. It's nice not having emissions testing here.

So would it be worth the cost to install the 4 cat pipe? I have a flowmaster cat back 2.5'

If you have the money get an aftermarket catted x-pipe. The 2 cats on an aftermarket x will flow much better than the stock 4 on the 99+.

That sounds stock. My 97 has 6 cats. I can't wait until i get enough funds for an aftermarket pipe.

Yep... my 98 GT has 6 cats.

I bought my car and the exhaust was cut right after the cross in the H pipe and it still has the 6 cats on it... I plan to get a X pipe with Higl flow cats and then just dump it after the X pipe.

I have a 96, they have 6 cats. You will love life just a little better when you go O/R mid-pipe. I do.

I'm going to have to say don't bother. Save up the extra 150 or so and get yourself a offroad x pipe, or atleast one with two highflow cats. Four is still too many, not to mention with the high flow or o/r your going to probably get a nicer sound also.
