RELIABILITY is the way you drive the thing.

10 psi, intercooled let her roll... a conservative tune, should last a long time

what kind of numbers do the MPH mongoose kits put out on a stock motor? (other than the basics like headers, mid, and c/b) Would it be safe?

those people running 8 psi and blow are those that try to do too much with their tunes, you can run 9 psi ic'd on a safe tune.

yeah its all in your tune if you go sc you can go crazy or get a conservetive tune and be reliable. alot has to do with your driving to if you baby it then it will last longer but if your beating your car every chance you get you will shorten the life of your engine. also have you had the car since new because then you know how it was broke in.

if you want reliability and performance your best bet is to get a forged block and throw a blower on it. Full bolt ons get boring REALLY fast and if you just slap a blower on your stock 2v, things can get ugly if you turn the boost above 8 psi. I just really have a bad feeling about superchargers and stock 2v

Your feelings are misplaced. People blow engines because they are stupid and drive it with either a bad tune or no tune at all.

10 PSI, 420~ WHP, and zero problems now over a year out. I beat the HELL out of the car every time I drive it (no powershifting etc, but it goes WOT several times to redline every time it comes out of the garage)

So long as you have a good safe tune and your not stupid about it (like holding it on the limtier etc) its fine.

330rwhp built H/C/I 302, on a 100 and 150 wet shot, and I wouldnt think twice about driving it cross country right now.
I think you can agree though that its not exactly a DD.

For a DD I would not want more than about 375/400~ WHP with a FI setup. Talking a stock motor setup with 8-10 PSI and boltons. Cams etc and the car will start to get farther and farther from streetable, and the MPG will suffer.
