I have not raced one with my Stang, however I raced a Z28 in my SRT-4 when it was bonestock. It was from a dig, so he had the advantage. I ate him up as soon as I got in second gear. Track was prepped well, so he had a good launch as well.

Yes, its true. Have you ever seen the stock manifolds on a LT1, they go upwards. I am not saying a LT1 with headers will beat a LS1 with headers, but the LT1 will be faster than a stock or mostly stock LS1

Stock for stockits a drivers race between a LT1 and your GT, even with him being an auto.

If he has a full exhuast and your stock he is gonna nail you to the wall.

[sm=bs.gif]If that was the case every LT1 out there would have long tubes and be willing to line up with a stock LS1. Now it might help the LT1 clsoe the gap on a STOCK LS1, but I still do not see it beating it. Now of course once the LS1 is even lightly modded it almost throws the notion of the LT1 beating it w/o some serious upgrades under the hood.

Not really since the freakin engine is under the dash board. You dont have to believe me but I have seen it done and have friends with both. My friend that had the 96 LT1 got beat by my GT stock. My other friend has a 6-speed LT1 with long tubes and beats LS1's all day

the six speed also has 3.42s....but since he beats stock ls1's all day how about getting a vid of this im very curious. He must be picking on 98 or 99 ls1's with 2.73s

LT1's are dogs everybody knows that. LS1's are revolutionalized by a race car inspired design. The new LS7's have a dry sump setup putting the (basically LS1) motor design to a whole new era....
