Default smokin question

I'm hoping somone can help me from experience. My 03GT doesn't use a drop of oil but when I snap the throttle to say 5k rpm, on the down revs at around 1500 rpm it'll give a puff of smoke and then it's back to normal. I'm thinkin it's valve stem seals but I need a 2nd oppinion.

No not all the time unless they are completely whooped. You have a bad ring somewhere! I will put my car on the line and say it's def. your rings! Valves would puff consistently, rings will puff on decend of hard accel

let me guess you use full synthetic?? Get rid of it! It is thinner than conventional oil. Put in regular and you won't notice as bad

Ya come to think of it it started after my first oil change (drivin it for 3 months) and I put full synthetic in. Guess I'll have to do a tear down or sell itif it gets worse.[:@]

Hmm got me thinking now. I used to have oil on my spark plugs and I wasn't sure if it was the valve seals, rings, or bad head gasket. The car never really smoked only bogged down under acceleration. Well heads are off now getting the seals changed.

Synthetic isn't bad at all, unless you have a problem with your motor! You say you don't burn oil, but you must with blow-by, maybe just not as noticeable on the dipstick as it is in the rearview mirror! A tiny bit of oil in the exhaust can create more smoke than you would think! Most people don't realize that Rings don't fully seat until a car has 20kmi on it!!!! I wouldn't tear the car down. Put 10w-30 convential motor oil in which ever brand you think is the best (except Mobil clean=junk) I'm a huge fan of Mobil Synthetic but absolutely hate their convential oil. I worked oil change for 2 years and they actually sent me to classes to learn diff. oils! Quaker stae and Penzoil are the top conventionals! Anyways go little thicker 10w-30 and I bet you won't have as much of a problem! If you do stick some Lucas engine treatment in ther with every oil change. If you do stick with one brand, don't keep changing up because they have diff. friction additives and will work against eachother.
