Cat Converter Shell

Cat Converter Shell
Has anyone ever heard of welding a converter shell onto a midpipe. Just so it would pass a visual emissions test. I'm not talking about welding in the entire converter. Just the outside shell, the flow of the midpipe won't be obstructed in anyway. I want to go with the prochamber w/o cats, but I want it to appear that I have cats. Crazy question, but wanted to ask anyway...

RE: Cat Converter Shell
That will work and is the best ting to do however if you are getting a new midpipe get new aftermarket converter! Some places know those tricks and might not pass you! All-in all high flow converters stop that smell and only rob you of maybe 2 or 3 hp topps unless you are pushing over 500hp at the flywheel then more, but it's all relative! Just get the high flow cats x-pipe it will be about the same as that damn prochamber and sound the same with the cats on it

RE: Cat Converter Shell
i actually did it on my old o/r prochamber, i bought two universal cats from autozone i think, bashed the insides out with a pipe, cut them down the side, and took the two halves fit them around the pipe, tacked them on checked for uniformity and put a bead on, of course it took a little tweeking here and there, but it works just fine, looks like i have 2 cats on there, and with just a 1/4 gap on the top of the pipe no one is none the wiser, if you are a good welder, and i decent faber, or have someone who is, it WILL look perfectly normal
