Default Question About New Mustan

Ok, I've got a quick question about my new car. I've wanted a mustang for a long time, and it just so happens my first new car ever is a 2003 Mustang GT. </P>

I bought the car with 20 miles on it, and I am always overworried about my stuff. Some people have told me that I shouldnt drive the car hard/fast until around 3000 miles, but I havent been able to help driving it a bit hard while showing it to friends. <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"> I was just curious if this is damaging or doing potential harm to the vehicle. I havent red-lined it or anything like that, but I havent been babying it either, and its only at 300 miles. </P>

</P>

If anyone can shed some light on this question I would appreicate it, </P>

Thanks,
Robert</P>

Default Question About New Mustan

Redlining a car at any stage of the engine life is horrible , but as to braking it in I'd wait till about 1000 miles under your belt with the car till i pushed it hard just my 2cents.

Default Question About New Mustan

I was told by the dealership where I bought mine to drive it like I will always plan on driving it, because my computer will learn my style of driving and in which case help the car to drive better accordingly. Better gas mileage &amp; stuff of the sort. However, w/every bike I've owned there was a break in period. I drove the car according to what I was told, cuz they warranty my car.

ROFL, they tried telling you the computer would learn your style of driving! Okay, find the dealerships phone number and if you could, please give it to me. I have a tape recorder handy and I'd love to make a prank call and mess with their heads. That's TOO funny.

500 miles for the motor, alittle more for the tranny...And yes redlining your motor, every gear or from every stop light is bad. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley3.gif border="0">

Default Question About New Mustan

I've heard of the timing chains breaking on a 03 cobra because the new owner didn't break it in properly. </P>

Get some hi rev valve springs from comp cams, break your engine in PROPERLY and you'll be able to rev up to 7K all day long. <IMG src=smileys/smiley20.gif border="0"></P>

Default Question About New Mustan

I didn't really buy that myself either, I was just posting what they told me. However, I did still go by what I was told. BTW...I got my car on the A plan, so I wasn't going to give them s**t for something I was not 100% sure on myself. But, I have to ask, why would that be so hard to believe? Computers can learn.<edited><editID>GSXRIntensity</editID><editDate>37844.0533564815</editDate></edited>

Oh man they told the computer would learn your driving. That is way too funny, they will say anything to sell a car, at least you bought a good one. </P>

</P>

Well drive that baby hard but just hold back a little till the rings seat properly but lets face what are you going to do anyways. Just don't rev that baby up to 6 grand and side step the cluch just yet. Let me come over and do it for ya....I been beat-n cars for decades and you know what...thing break...you fix them...and you get to break them again...</P>

Default Question About New Mustan

I've had my car a year last Thursday, but I have managed to only put 4,458 miles on it<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">. I spend A LOT of time on the Gixxer, and in my truck. BTW...it wasn't him telling me about the computer that sold me. It was the fact, that if I ordered through them, because of my connection I ended up saving about $6,000, plus got 0.0% financing for 6yrs, as well as the premium warranty on a premium package car. Ya see...that's what sold me. I mentioned in a past thread that if I would not have had to part w/my GSX-R for a new WS.6...that's what would be in the garage now.
