? about vac/boost gauge
im buying all the parts i need to install my supercharger and i need to buy a boost gauge. so im looking at autometer gauges, and im wondering what is vacuum/boost. i know what boost is but what does vacuum mean? if this is a really ignorant question forgive me but i know nothing about superchargers and gauges. also im thinking about getting the pod that either sits on my steering column or above the dash. what do ya'll think?

The boost/vac gauge reads both. When you are not boosting (idle/crusing or when you don't have a blower) there is a vaccum in the intake manifold instead of pressure. This vaccum runs alot of the accessories and fucntions of the car.
Having a vac gauge will let you see if you get a leak. If your vaccum suddenly dies away and at idle etc you only see a neutral pressure (or less vaccum) you have a leak that will be loosing both the vac and boost.

Most of the electric boost/vac gauges have the sending unit internally. I ran the small plastic hose from boost gauge into the vacuum line on the car. It all connects with ferrules and ferrule nuts and a t-fitting. Then you just run the 12v and the ground and you're set.

Scott...do you mean the A-pillar gauge pod? in that case they do make full replacements that you dont have to screw in to the stock one if we are talking about the same thing...unless im being retarded lol. i had my tuner install it when he installed the vortech...so i guess its possible that he screwed it into the stock one (since i didnt install it myself i dont know how he did it), but i thought those full pillar pods replace it...

thats the A-pillar i got, dual pod version.
stoes...ive heard the ones that mount on top of the dash are kind of a pain in the *** for install and you would either have a harder time or potentially pay a little more to have it done. id say go with the A-pillar or steering column mounted gauges.
