Use a fitting that goes into where your spark plug goes in. Fill the cylinder up with air and hold it unless your valve will drop.

You can buy a compression test kit at auto zone and take the small valve out of it and use it to put compressed air into the cylinder.

Ha ha. Good luck. Here's a quick trick I used when assembling my heads: Use a bit of tranny lube on the locks on top of the valves. When you put them in place on the valve, they'll stay there and not drop down when you go to put the other half on. It saves so much time.

What I did is use a deep 18mm socket, 6" extension and hammer them. The locks will pop off. Do this without the valve spring compressed. And you have to hit them kind of hard. Don't worry, nothing will break.

That has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You never pound on your engine with a hammer. Are you using overhead cam valve spring compressor? Dont use the otc 7928 because you could bend your valves. Just use the one that you put on the spring and turn the top to compress it. Use a magnet to get the locks out. LOL hammer on your valves[sm=laughat.gif][sm=badidea.gif]

Obviously you have never used that tool before. Funny how Ford has it in the repair manual. That's what I like about this site so much real tech, ghetto maintenance at best. Bend your valves...good grief where do you cats get this crap?
