Default 355 in my 00 gt

I need some info on motor swap options. I have a chevy 350 block that I am thinking about using. I don't think I want to use a ford motor being that chevy is half the price and twice the power. Problem is, chevys have their motor mounts in the front of the block and the 4.6 i took out of my mustang uses mounts in the middle of the block. This is going to make for a difficult swap. Has anyone done this, or thought of doing this? Can anyone point me in a direction to learn about this kind of swap? I need to know how to keep my power steering, where to get mounts, where to find a conversion to keep my trans, etc etc etc... HELP!! ANY information or guidance will be very useful. Thanks.

yeah this swap has been done many many times in older 5.0 foxes. its a very expensive swap. sell the chevy motor and put a 347 in instead

It can be done...but I'm only gonna consider it when I want more than 600 H.p and a drag only car with motor plates,Full cage and etc...My last 422 sbc made 638 H.P and cost me includingparts and my labor 5200.00...But for now the S/C 4.6 is plenty for a DD......street/race car...LOL

well, why do you guys think this??? I found universal crossmembers and mounts through Transdapt, and a sbc-T5 bellhousing through Lakewood. What else does this swap entail????? Just point me in a direction or tell me who to talk to.

I wouldn't convert to GM in a modern GT mustang. Yes- the Chevy smallblock is a very practical power house, but take no offense to what I'm about to say, but swapping one into a modern GT is kind of cheesy. I would only do that to an older Ford that had no practical means of great power like a pre-60 model or something similar. Even then, I would probably want to keep it Ford original. Chevys are cool in deuce coupes and stuff like that, or maybe Jeep CJs or very old Plymouths. Maybe you don't ever want to sell your GT, but if you do, there wouldn't be many folks wanting to buy into it if it was modded to GM.
You can get gobs of power with modern Ford stuff and if you want to turn around and eventually sell that Mustang, people are more apt to buy it if it's boosted with original Ford equipment.

yea your best bet is to just have it bored out if your really want a bigger engine dont waste your moeny on the swap. im sure you could find a terminator engine slightly used or rebuild one if you have enough experience for a swap, should cost similar be alot easier and raise resale value. but to each their own it will certainly be rare so if thats what you want then best of luck

keep us posted. i would try a site like sembmusclecarclub.com it is a universal muscle car site so you have chevy n ford guys that could help.

sorry to send to other forums just trying to help best i can. if your really wanna use a gm engine go for an ls2 out of a GTO ls motors are insane and super easy to draw power form.

You do realize ford makes good small blocks as well, and theres just as many if not more parts availible for them. i.e. the 302.

well, the thing is i already have the 355 block. i am much much much more familiar with sbc motors. I do all my own work, including machining, so parts costs are all im worried about. That is why I want a sbc. I was thinking maybe there is a way to weld 4.6 mounts onto the 355 so that it will bolt up... Problem is, i don't want to add the stresses to the block that welding would produce.... There's so many options I just want to find someone who may have done this...

blasphemy!! but yeah this may be a harder swap than you would think. i say go for either a terminator motor, or like david_k said, put a 347 in. probably a ton easier (and cheaper as well)
