I HIT A CURB !@#!
Okay, I hit a curb doing about 45-50 avoiding a dog. I bent the front rim pretty badly. I used this opportunity to get new rims (the only positive), but she needs some mechanical work.
I don't want to be ripped off and need to know what kind of things could have went wrong before I lay down the bucks to get my baby back! Thanks in advance

go to a few different body shops and get three or four estimates and then you will have an idea of what needs fixed. if one shop is a lot higher than the others ask them why maybe the others missed something or this guy just want to charge you extra so that is why you need to get 3 or 4 estimates

I'm sorry but, if there's an animal in the road, I'm not going to wreck my machine avoiding it. I'd rather replace my front bumper than someone elses whole car, or spending the rest of life in jail for wreckless driving because I wrecked someone else getting out of the way.

Hey Dude,

Just go to a good shop and listen to what they say and have them show you and explain. If it sounds good just pay the bucks. You should be able to see what was damaged. It will be bent or broke. Have them itemize the costs and you could compare the part costs with the dealer cost. Alsocan you put better parts in? Then you would feel better then just replacing you would be improving . This type of auto repair costs will be all over the place. So get three bids and chose the one you feel will do the best job at a resonable price. Look at the shop, is it full or empty. Ask your insurance agent who does the best work for them, you can say its for a friends car? They need cheep but trustworthly shops so try one of those out. Good luck!!!!! Hey I love dogs too so good job!!!

i feel you for not wanting to wipe out a dog, but a curb has no give..good news is if the rim bent and took most of the impact you will definitely need an alignment and thats probably it.. i hit a curb to avoid a 70ish ltd(aka huge street boat) that would have crushed my car. this happened exactly 10 days after putting my new 18x9 saleen wheels on the car... yes it was painfull.. my rim looked like a box and though wheel and tire were trashed, all i needed afterwards was an alignment.. i didn't believe the first shop so i took it to ford afterwards to be safe... 3000 miles later and the car is still tracking straight and no uneven tire wear
