As stated above, the install is around 600 if you go to their shop in Georgia.
All the boltons in the world simply cannot hold a candle to a FI car.Your talking about the difference between a 270 WHP at best car vs a 350+ WHP car with plenty more potential.

Everyone answered what you should buy.
However, you are not smart if you're taking a loan out to mod your car.. Don't buy what you can't afford. Why pay interest, save your damn money, then when you have it mod your car. If you're willing to take a 6k loan out to just mod your car, you're asking for financial trouble your entire life.
You're what 18 years old.... you really have no idea what mistakes you're asking for.

I wish I didn't have to do it, but I had to refinance the car when doing the TKO 500 swap. It was better than letting it sit.
Like I said, if he can afford it, why not? A 6K loan (so long as its not on a credit card) isn't gonna be that much interest, espcially if you pay it off fairly early.
Not to mention buiding credit. I realise he won't if his parents get the loan instead of him, but still.
Whats the difference between getting a loan for mods and one for a car? You could have just as easily went out and bought a car that was 6K more dollars, instead your getting parts.
I guess you can argue you have nadda to show for it.. but a car is basically that way to. I wish I could get the 16K out of my car that i paid for it years ago.

Because, he's 18, just got his car. He doesnt know what he's doing lol. Probably doesnt have a job paid on salary etc. There is circumstances and everyone knows there limits, but I dont think he knows really what he's doing.

You could buy the Mongoose kit from MPH for 4k... or you could look for a used setup. Its up to you, I personally would go with the supercharger route... But its not like you can buy the kit install it and start driving, after you spend 4k on the kit, you need to buy the guages (not too much $$$) then you got to find a race shop that can dyno tune the car for you so it doesnt blow up.
