i would check for fuel leaks first before u buy a new pump cause i was told to change out my pump as well and i didnt and glad i didnt cause i wouldve wasted a lot of money for nothing. Look for leaks, especially around the EGR area

If its not the pump when was the last time you changed your filter?

A pump can go out partially. It will just not supply the correct fuel pressure, but it will still flow.

You should have between 40 and 55/60 PSI, depending on if your at idle or WOT.

same thing happened to my car. I didn't have a rough idle but sometimes I would punch it and the car would just stumble and fall flat on it's face drop down to like 10psi, replace the pump to a svt focus pump and havn't had an problem since.

well my idle pressure is right at 30 psi and it will go all the way up to 55-60 at wot full boost, but between shifts it goes low (sometimes below 20) and as soon as i put it in next gear it goes right back up like its supposed to, so i dunno if thats normal either. The car doesnt feel any different or slower.

depending on what year you have there should be a shradder valve on the fuel rail that you can press to let out the pressure. The fuel filter is located in front of the fuel tank if your facing the the rear of the car. It'll look like a small canister you just unhook the clamps and using a fuel line remover tool it comes right out. Do yourself a favor and get another motorcraft one if you replace it, I went with a generic one I got at autozone and it started leaking all over the place, replaced it with a motorcraft and its been fine since.
