Default hoodscoop functional project

Has anyone made their stock hoodscoop functional? I couldnt find anything, im sure people are worried about it flying off or something, I woud like to attempt this as a project this weekend, if it flys off im just gettin a cobra hood to match my bumper. Can I have some input or pictures? Im planning on taking it off, cutting a hole and puttin it back on.

What would be the point of this? I could see if you had an intake rigged up to it to make it ram air. Are you making it for heat extraction?

just dont like the idea of something "fake" on my car. Seems like it would help keep the engine bay a little cooler and cycle air more consistently.

Yeah my car didn't come with the scoop and I am getting one when I get it painted. I wish it did come with a funtional scoop that was ram air like the Machs.

Ive been wanting to do this with my 2000 hood, except no honeycomb.

I have seen it done before. It looks pretty good.

And the whole fake thing blows!

You guys are aware that aerodynamics preventhood scoops from delivering much if any benefit. the best place for them is in the front of the hood. Hood scoops from the factory have always been just for looks

You can turn it around backwards and have a heat extractor!

Don't waste your time. Just replace the whole thing with a cowl induction hood. At least if you DON'T cut up your factory hood you can probably sell it to a body shop or stick it in the classifieds
