RE: I am scared :(
In the owners manual of the car it highlights the areas of the engine compartment that you should cover up before you pressure wash the engine, but not too much pressure. The fuse box, air intake and a couple over things have to be sealed before you put water on it.

Buy a handheld pressure washer from Wal-Mart. I bought this one:

Kicks *** for washing all kinds of crap. I mainly bought it so I could have my own spray port instead of using the lame coin-op ones in town. Also, it serves a great purpose for washing your motor when it is COLD. You have the potential to crack some parts in there when spraying water on a hot engine, so I just roll the car out of the garage, spray degreaser over everything, cover the parts 03GT_4.6 mentioned then blast away.

I am unwilling to wash my engine down. Its not that bad though, I spend about 3 hours at a carshow just wiping it down with damp cloths and it looked pretty dammed good. Takes time, but its alot safer.

I just did mine the other day... I have heard there is something with the ignition on these cars that is not good to get wet... although I didnt cover anything... I have done it before with out covering anything and never had a problem... untill the other day... I started her up and it was running rouph... like it was missing.. I determined it to be ignition and took it for a nice long cruise to dry her out... that solved the problem! Now that I have given it the pressure washing I wont do it again... just clean her up every month or so with some degreaser and a rag and it will stay nice and clean!

When i wash my motor prior to shows, i would cover the alternator w/duck tape, disc all ele connnections and cover the P side and J side with saran wrap and rubber bands, cover batt terminals, fuse boxes, then spray it down with degreaser. Then after the wash down i would go out and run NORMAN for at least 10min to dissapate most of the degreaser and water hidden in tight little spots. And that is how i do my eng wash down.

Just wipe it down, then you wont have to worry about nothing. Just takes a little longer that's all..

Cover up all the electrical like alternator and fuse box etc... and that degreaser stuff works really nice, and just use the pressure washer with bursts, try not to really soak anything or spray directly on the alternator etc.. quick sprays.
