Default Another Stang Down. Help?

First off, my low fuel light had been on 30 miles, and I knew I needed gas bad but hadn't reach a station yet.

I made a left turn at a stoplight, and the gas station was a short block up. I hammered on it, giving some buddies that were with me a good ride. As I go WOT and turn, car runs out of gas, and got real jerky. Rolled into the station and filled up (luckily), but the car won't start. Let it sit for a while and still nothing. I had it towed back to my house, I want to take a look at it before it goes to a shop as a last resort.

Any suggestions as to what may have happened? I couldnt have damaged injectors or anything in the fuel system?

I would disconnect your battery (no real rhime or reason- just to try it), then reconnect it and turn the key to the on position for about 10 seconds(turns on fuel pump), and then try letting it crank over a few times. On a blown motor- you never want to go WOT under low fuel levels === big trouble. Good luck with it- hope there was no serious damage.

Yeah...for a few moments it slipped my mind on how low fuel I was carrying, and that that was why I exited the highway to begin with...

Running on low fuel for that long of a time. Is horrible for your fuel pump, you might have burned that out.

It could be the fuel pump, did you try to turn the key and see if you could hear it starting up?

If not, check the fuel pump's fuse, and since you said it jerked pretty hard check the collision deactivation switch in the trunk, I have had that thing pop for no reason a time or two.

+10 on it being a SUPER bad idea to run your tank low, espcially on a blower car that probably has an aftermarket fuel pump. They already run hotter than the stocker, you need that fuel to keep it cool.

If its screwed, get a SVT focus pump instead of the stocker (with a KB I assume you could have been running the stocker + a BAP) as it will support more WHP. I would install it yourself, all you really need is some basic tools, a 10 dollar fuel line removal tool, and a jack.

Try this site.. and then see if you can get the diagnostic codes.. http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/dtcodes.htm

I can 80% guarantee its the fuel pump though, mine just went out about a month ago and I had it towed to the Ford dealership.. Unfortunantly it was 725. out the door with tax.

Edit: Also the Ford dealership told me that if you a using a tune on your car your fuel pump will run constant which will make it have a way shorter life expectancy.

If you have a (good) custom tune it will not do so. My fuel pump runs about 40 PSI at crusing and 55-60 PSI at WOT. The tune will ramp it up and down as the throttle changes.
