Default Burnout question...

I tried doing a 2nd gear burnout today, because I read that it was better (tires spin faster, etc.). Practicing for the track before I go so I don't embarress myself, and also to decide whether or not to get line lock.

1st try--good, but after 2 seconds I started sliding to the left so I stopped
2nd try--better..dumped clutch at 4K and immediately pressed the brake, while feathering the gas pedal to keep the rpms up, while staying in 1 spot which is good. After a few seconds however, the gas started dropping, so I pushed the pedal all the way to the floor, but the RPMs just sank.
Why did they sink--was I holding the brake too hard? Or not enough power or??

I think your ABS was shutting you down.

you where on the brakes to hard, the trick is to keep just enough pressure on the pedal to keep the car from rolling

*Edit* you didn't happen to have T/C on did you?

Turn your traction control off. Your ABS will not effect your burn out (at least I haven't experienced that). If you have the stock 3.27 gearing it's going to bog down with a 2nd gear burn out especially if you have sticky tires. Don't feather the gas. It's tricky, keep your rpms steady around 4k rpm and let them spin awhile and come out of your burnout while still spinning. you'll feel the tires hook.

Hot tires=traction=hookin=loss in rpm

First off, do you have drag radials?

what there all saying, keep the rpms up and once they start to fall let off the brake and keep on it for a bit.

or you can get some 4.10's

yeah I was going to get SLP Line lock soon but I talked to my dad about it and he said it was useless, since I can easily spin them without line lock
It wasn't with radials it was on my street tires, and Machs come with 3.55 not 3.27 gears...

I guess I should let off the brake a little and I'll be set, thanks guys
