well actually it idles quite nicely however when i step on the gas, it's a different story. and just to get it outta the way, i just cleaned and gapped sparkplugs and replaced fuel filter but that didn't help... ok here goes. like i said car idles great, and any soft acceleration is flawless. the problom comes when i try to step on it or if i get lazy and don't down downshift i wanna accelerate from low rpms (by low i mean like 1500-2000) whenever i do it my engine runs really rough. makes the whole car shake, but it's odd because it's a very uneven roughness/studder. when i get on the gas it studders a bit, then the car will lerch foward cause all the engine power will come back and it will run fine, then after like a second it will studder again... mainly happens in the low rpm range (and no i'm not bogging it down)... not as noticable in high rpm range but i can tell power is missing, my third gear feels like fourth. any help would be great !

well after searching the forums, i noticed tons of ppl have had the same problem, i guess i'll look in to replacing the MAF and putting in some 93 gas, thanks for all the help j/k if anyone has new news about the problom though, lemmie know

Look a for a vacuum leak.93 octane will do you no good.This sounds like plug wires(if you had any)Go to Advance or Autozone and get it checked for codes.

1 of 3 things....and im fairly certain, one of them hits the nail on the head!

1- wires/ wire configuration......are you sure u have the wires on right>? it sound like a misfire (obviously) and im not so sure u put em on right....no offense. if it is the wires, plan on putting in ANOTHER set of new plugs....they are probably soaked by now....of corse u could take the old lighter and burn em...but not too much or you'll ruin the electrode


2-mass air. but i doubt it considering you car is almost brand new...well...yes, very new....mass air goes out like once every 10 years


3-bhg. probably not, but if it overheats at idel or has rough acceleration under load...as in it feels like you dropped the clutch a little too soon and your neck jerks back and fourth.....eiiii!

In addition to my first post on this subject,try checking the fuel pressure.It could be a weak or dying fuel pump.

Take it to a Ford mechanic. You are prolly still under warranty.

woo thanks guys, i'm gonne do what chopper said check the fuel pressure, it definately feels like some kind of fuel restriction, and since changing the filter didn't work i'll try the pump.... if not that next will be the MAF, whats on it now is a K&N MAF that came with the FIPK but i didn't put it on, the previous owner did. Hopefully i'll have the problem diagnosed by the end of the weekend, and i'll let everyone know what was wrong since this seems to be a rampent problem. thanks

btw when you get ready to start the car after it's set a while, oh say over night, do yall hear the fuel pump come on to pressurize. I don't, and i don't know if its just THAT silent or if mine is going out.

I've never heard my fuel pump prime...

it's a pretty silent pump, if you keep your radio off, windows closed, turn the key on (engine off) and you'll hear a noise. thats the fuel pump, even though it doesn't quite sound like one. and also if you ever hear the sound of something like a fan slowing down when you shut your car off after a while of driving, it's the fan for your eec-v.

if it is a faulty fuel pump, you're lucky it's a breeze to replace. if you do change it, here's a chance to put higher flowing pump in.
