Has anyone got a set of cams installed on there 1999-2004 Mustang GT. How much did it cost for complete install plus cams. I got a quote for 3 grand, thats seems a little high. Just wanted to see how much you guys paid. Thanks

my stang is in the shop now for cams and valve spring install. i got the comp cams and beehive springs with retainers on ebay as a package deal for $667. i got a quote from a local dyno shop to put them in for $600. once they got the car, they told me labor will be more. thanks for telling me then, huh? i am now looking for a certified time for the complete install, on the web, so i can argue my case. anyways the store were i got the cams on ebay was discount performance parts out of MS. good luck in whatever you choose!

I bought my cams for $530 and put them in myself...for 3K you may as well just supercharge the damn thing. I'd pay 600-800 tops for an install so like 900-1100 total.

With the stage 2s, with valvesprings, the cams, a tune and a chip to tune it with I paid right around 1700 (installed). I would not do it again unless I was gonna do it myself.

thanks for ur help. Do the stage ones give a noticeable amount of hp and also have that famous lope. Or do I need to look into stage 2 for that kind of stuff

stage two will give you a more agressive sound but not much more power unless you are able to use it. with stage two your peak power will be at a very high rpm. i have been told 700 for the full pi swap with stage 1 cams and that is just install plus 600 for cams

So far as the power output, I am not convinced that you could acutally notice the difference between a stage 2 and 1 without a dyno.

The biggest difference is the stage 2s do loose a bit more down low TQ. Idle to say1500 RPM sometimes the car will jump a bit and act stupid if I don't slip the clutch right.

The 2s will sound more agressive, but don't expect a BB chevy cam sound. They sound good, but its not old school camming sound.
