Default Header suggestions

so, im trying to decide whether to get some Mid-Length Headers or some Long Tube headers for my 4.6 cobra.. I know the long tubes give more power gains, but the Mid-legnths will definately allow me to pass CA Smog.. i plan on putting dual cutouts on when i do this also

What are the power gains of full exhaust with long tubes compared to the Mid lengths??

Can i pass CA smog with long tubes?

Do high flow cats work in CA enough to pass smog?

and can dual cut outs fit under the car after the High flow cats?

You won't pass emissions with longtubes... If I were you - i'd save the 1200 bucks you're about to spend on headers, and a new midpipe. Get something else. put it towards the purchase of a nice new blower, that'd be nice.. haha, or you could do yourself some nitrous if you want power.

If you get the other header options you won't really gain anything. Most 2v cars I know with longtubes, midpipe and catback see around 15rwhp/20lb ft tor. - The manifolds flow pretty well.

What modifications do you already have? There are better options then headers for the 4v cobras.

You will not pass CA smog with any types of headers besides shorties, and those shorties have to have a CARB number. There are some high flow cats that have CARB numbers (the ones that Pypes uses on their catted mids have CARB numbers) However, you still lose the pre-cats when you go to any sort of catted mid pipe. Even if the cats on the pipe have a CARB number, the mid pipe does not. You may pass the sniffer with the pre cats gone, but if the smog person knows their stuff, you will fail the visual because of the missing pre-cats. Your best bet is to just switch out the midpipe every few years for the stock one for smog purposes. Of course, you may be able to find a smog place that will clean-pipe you for a coupla extra Hundos..

GEARS and a Tuner, Short Shifter, some suspension work. Choose your poison.

+1 that. Go out and buy yourself some 4.10s, an SCT tuner, a short throw of your choice (I have the Tri-ax and love it), and maybe some control arms to help with launching.
