Default opinion on aftercooler

Wanting some opinions on getting an aftercooler for a vortech? I've read that it gives you 38whp so it sounds like it would be worth the money but always need to check here first. Thanks.

You will have to retune for it. Its a water to air intercooler so it is more efficient, especally if you use ice in the tank, etc.

You can also find air to air intercoolers for a LOT cheaper than vortech is trying to sell their cooler for. Either will add a great deal of power if you tune for it.

My tuner talked me into doing a front mount. He said the aftercooler is more for track cars, if thats what your goals for the car are. This is because you can shut the car off, ice the box down, yada yada. The front mount is just much more efficient for a street car, where you dont have to worry about all that. I agree, you can get a front mount WAY cheaper than an aftercooler, and still pull off GREAT results.

Forget it and look into an air to air intercooler setup. You can do a DIY air to air for around 500 bucks with a HUGE air to air interocooler. The aftercooler is 1400+ bucks.
