Stock cams are .397"
I would sugest FR500 cams and high light valvetrain kit for $1500. You get the springs, valves, retainers and cams and their lift is .472" A HUGE improvment.

You will really feel the power from these things. While you are at it you should think about having the heads ported and a 1mm oversize valve installed. But if you dont have the cash the cam kit is a good idea for now

Here in Tampa, I see probably 1 cammed Gt for every 5 I see..

You must live in the boonies.. a cammed 2v isn't anything rare. That's like saying a mustang GT is rare
... You say that, but when you spend 2k to cam a 4v to get 20rwhp, or can spend 3k on a blower and get 100+rwhp... remember you're paying double to cam a 4v vs a 2v and you're not really getting much more. I know even less people cam the new cobras, as the cams are already pretty aggresive.

EDIT: The whistle attracts all the attention I need [8D]- especially with my exhaust as it is.

i think if i had a cobra i would cam it..ive camed my 2v and it attracts so much attention everywhere i go its like no one ever seen a camed mod motor, i mean its pretty rare in the 2v crowd i cant imagine what its like for the 4v gus
I am the only cammed 2v in my town. Hell, I have to go 2+ hours away to find another

Considering on the stock motor it only spins to around 6400...

Also for 1500$ just for parts... u also have to figure in install, and tuning required.. and it's not going to put him up to 400rwhp alone... your talking over 2k for 30rwhp or so...at 5k and up...

Camming a 4v is well worth it if you are going the full NA route. Go over to corral and check out the threads with B head guys making close to 400hp with a full NA setup with a short runner intake, 11 CR, etc etc. That being said you are making your car far less streetable as most power on a good 4v cam will come on at 5k rpm and run until 8k.Most run a 4.56 gear but can dip into the 11s and lower in the 1/4 mile.

so your also saying you've seen each of those 300,000 poeples cars so you know that there is only 5 poeple out of them who have a cammed GT, you must have a good memory.

What kinda setup are you running, i assume you did a bigbore/stroke setup, but did you go all out with a valve job, p&p, ported intake, etc etc. Its nice to see people go outside the norm and not just slap on a supercharger, rather get all they can out of a capable engine which the 4v is.

Also how is the streetability of the car, do the cams make it a dog at low RPM or do the gears compensate enough to make it pretty normal?
