ORIGINAL: SilverGTV8

MGWLTD 45% reduction (1-2 use to be 4.5" now is 2.5"), adjustable stick position. Little pricey but that's what X-mas is for.

MGW LTD

Do you have this shifter? Now I'm really interested in it all the sudden. It looks pretty solid!

Not yet, but I will. I know of others that have had 5.0's and Tri's that are switching to these shifters with good comments on the change
.

After I learned how to just push into 3rd gear rather than guide it into 3rd gear, I haven't missed 3rd since and I don't really have all that much of a complaint about my stock shifter. I'd like to try a late model GT with a short throw to see if I'm missing out on anything.

Dan,
There is no problem with the stock shifter if you change below 5K RPM. But, if you are changing between 2nd and 3rd at any RPM over 5K, you will hit a wall. It simply will not change gears, especially if you are trying to speed shift. The syncros are not conducive for this in the Tremec trannies, so call Ford and ask for the update.

I installed the Ripper yesterday, it was pretty straight forward. The shifts are now very solid and click. My only complaint is that I have to stretch my arm a good bit for all the forward gears, but all in all I like it! The shifter is feels like it's welded in, it's so solid.

I only choose the Ripper because I had one in my '96 TA about 6 years ago and I was pleased with it then. I can't say whether or not it's any better than the others.

I think I'm gonna go with the MGW LTD shifter...the thing looks SOLID! It's currently the shortest throw on the market, and I'm pretty much sacrificing comfort for performance I guess.

I can sum up that I'd definately be happy with a Steeda Tri-Ax, but I'm gonna take a risk and go for something fairly new here...
