Tranny Problem

Tranny Problem
So I was driving my mustang back home from Chicago and the rear seal on the tranny broke and it broke the brass slide inside the extension housing. I ordered the new extension housing from the local Ford dealer and when I got it, it looked 100% the same. So I pulled out the old one and put it next the the new one. the only difference was that the speedo gear on mine was at a 45* angle and the new one was at a right (90*) angle.
the guys at the dealer said that it was the difference between the tranny in the GT and in the Cobra. does anyone know what I can do because I can not find the extension housing with the 45* speedo gear.

RE: Tranny Problem
id try a junk yard, or search ebay. or you can call some of the tranny shops in your area, they usually have the "hard to find" pieces, and since they are a "Tranny Only" shop they should know what you are talking about. But it wont be cheap

RE: Tranny Problem
I checked all the local junk yards and none of them even have a tranny for my car let alone just the extension housing. all the places that I have talked to sells the entire thing and will not just send me the part I need.

RE: Tranny Problem
so is the 90* one for the cobra or the GT. Cuz I was told that the 45* one was the one they put in the cobras. which makes no sense because thats what I had in my car.
I was also told thatford where having problems with the 45* one and thats why they don't have them because the gears just strip out or something.
I was wondering if the just have a different speedo gear set-up that I can put in there and that would make it work.
