Default thermostats

i was just wondering if changing the thermostat in my1996 GT would do anything either for longevity of the engine or power. i have seen a 160 in a few peoples signatures and a 180. is there any advantage to any of these and if so is it worth doing? what is it stock? thanks in advance.

160 is too cold, your car will take forever to warm up, dont go lower than 180. even then you arent going to notice a difference either way, and you will probably see a decrease in gas milage
