The tag on the rear end said 3L28. Does that mean 328?? I wanted to know so I can look into getting a 390 and know that im not wasting my money. Maybe a 410, im not sure yet.

I've got the same tag on my diff. I beleive it means 3:08 gear (according to a budy who's a service writer at a Ford dealership). I'm doing a 3:90 gear in my auto 2002 gt if that helps.

No, you have a 3.27. The 28 is the number of splines not the number of teeth of the ring.

The ring has 32 teeth and the pinion has 7 I believe

where the 4.10's has 41 teeth on the ring and 10 on the pinion.

That "2" is probably a "0" and you read it wrong. It's most likely a 3:08 rear(open rear)
Scrape some more dirt off the tag and you probably see that it says 308

What tranny came with the car? If it was auto then it has 3:27 gears. If it was stick then it's either 2:73 or 3:08

Other way around, auto got the 308 and stick got 327. Cobras (newer) got 355. And it isn't an open diff. it's limited slip.

They are the numbers on the lower right hand corner of the tag, if these numbers are correct then you have 3.28 gears with a traclok rear end ( posi )
