Good Deal?

Just found this, and am wondering how much i should offer. Note, he says $2500 w/o stero as a starting price and he seems eager to sell.
"The car has been perfect until a week ago when i heard a banging noise in the engine. I took it to a shop that has done work on the car in the past and they said the following:
"The engine noise is from a possible piston skirt or possibly a bad intake valve. Hard knock on right rear valve cover. May need to have the engine broke down some to pinpoint the internal failure"
So what are your thoughs and do you feel it is a good deal. How much would this be to fix approximately?Looks clean and has a fair amount of upgrades. Let me know, thanks!

where do you guys find these great prices for stangs? Most of the 99-01 or so stangs i see in new england are like 9-10k with close to or over 100k. Is the value more here or something?
